Dr. Margherita
Dr. Margherita attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and received his MD in 1985. He is a graduate of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of California at Davis in 1989. He is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was on the faculty of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington from 1989 to 1997, and the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis from 1997 through 2003. He lectures locally, regionally, and at the national level on spine, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine and pain mechanisms. He has published over 30 reference articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He has broad experience in clinical research and has participated as an Investigator or Principal Investigator in over 85 clinical research trials. He has been a study section panelist for the National Institutes of Health, research review panelist for the National Institutes for Disability and Rehabilitation Research, and has served as an international advisory editor for the International Encyclopedia of Disability.
Tina Ryan FNP-C
We are pleased to welcome Tina Ryan, FNP-C to West County Spine & Sports Medicine. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences in Orlando. Shereceived her Master’s degree in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner degree from Maryville University 2015. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Missouri. She has worked in a number of roles in the St. Louis area as a nurse and a nurse practitioner in emergency medicine, anesthesiology, skilled nursing care, sports medicine, pain management and rehabilitation. She has received extra training in pain management techniques, injection procedures, acute care management, disaster management and rehabilitation care planning. She will assist in medical management and compliance aspects of the practice and participate in the evaluation and management of patients with acute and chronic spine, sports, and musculoskeletal conditions.

I'd been having rotator cuff problems from years of playing competitive softball and had visited a couple of surgeons for advice. Basically. they said "When the pain gets bad enough come back and see me!" Dr. Margherita was recommended to me by a teammate and he was a breath of fresh air. I decided to visit his office and he was able to size up the situation very quickly. We set up a visit schedule for therapy and then a regimen of exercises to do at home. After 4 months I am completely pain free, yeah!!!! No Advil, no nothing! I don't believe in miracles but I do believe in Dr. Margherita. Now, I'm not going to go out and see how far I can throw a softball...but my shoulder feels like a million bucks. They took my insurance which also made it real easy. Dr Marg's is the best!
